Having built a strong working relationship over previous campaigns, Motion Sickness approached us to collaborate on the sound design and music composition for their outstanding “Proud to be Māori'' project for Te Whānau o Waipareira. We were chuffed to be providing the audio component for such an important topic, and in conjunction with Motion Sickness, we zeroed in on what would be the best possible sound and music for their visuals.
The Waipareira Trust’s mission is to provide true generational change for Māori living in Aotearoa, which is why Motion Sickness wanted their film to be as powerful as possible. In particular we loved the hopeful message behind the film, and felt that the right blend of musical accompaniment and additional sound design was key to communicating this message.
Our team are artists first, and we place a lot of value in our ability to strike an appropriate mood for any project. While working closely with Motion Sickness on delivering these components, we saw the film come to life, and couldn’t be more proud of the final result:
While we’ve worked with Motion Sickness on numerous projects, this was the first time we’d provided a bespoke composition for one of their campaigns. It made it all the more satisfying that our first musical collaboration with them could involve such an essential message, and look forward to lending our musical expertise to more outstanding stories in the future.
